The Public Gallery of the Senedd building in Cardiff Bay was the platform for Urdd Gobaith Cymru’s (The Wales League of Youth) ‘peace and goodwill message’ on Tuesday, 19 May. This year’s message prepared by pupils from two Cardiff schools - Fitzalan High School and Ysgol Gyfun Plasmawr - focused on climate change, and was the product of a workshop run by Christian Aid gapper, Angharad Rhys.
A message from the youth of Wales to the youth of the world has been broadcast annually since 1925. This year it has been translated into 36 languages and is also available as a CD which includes a song ‘Twymo Byd Eang’ (Global warming).
Highlighting the dangers and effects of climate change around the world, the message - ‘Climate change: who's fault? Our fault....' - emphasises the Urdd’s environmental campaign, Urdd Gwyrdd.
Angharad said: ‘It’s great that the Urdd members have decided to highlight the issue of climate change in their message to the youth of the world this year.
‘We hope that the voices of the young people of Wales and the world can influence those who will be attending the vital climate change talks in Copenhagen later in the year.’
