Fairtrade has been a major boost for the people of Jinotega, one of the poorest areas of Nicaragua.
With funding from Christian Aid and the European Union, our partner Soppexcca is helping small coffee farming co-operatives here to thrive and grow.
The project aims to boost local and international sales – including of certified organic and Fairtrade coffees.
With increased sales and better prices, Soppexcca is investing in new equipment and machinery, as well as vital community ventures such as schools and pharmacies.
